The Digital Media Culture Laboratory operates as a Guangdong Provincial Higher Education Innovation Team Project, led by the my advisor Professor Chang. This initiative seeks to investigate issues beyond the fog of media, with the objective of uncovering truth, authentic knowledge, and the fundamental principles of culture (Chinese: 透过媒介迷雾,探寻文化的真相、真知与真理).

Tencent Commissioned Project: ‘Research on the Composition and Patterns of Corporate Media Discourse in the Digital Age’
November 2022–February 2023 Supported research on media discourse frameworks and mainstream policy response mechanisms of major Chinese enterprises under academic supervision. Key responsibilities included mapping corporate media discourse channels, conducting a thematic analysis of 10 major corporate media discourses, conducting in-depth case studies of Meituan and Ping An Insurance, and examining the balance between universality and distinctiveness in the construction of corporate media discourse. -
Research on Global Communication Strategies for Shenzhen’s Urban Cultural Brand
March 2023-August 2023 Contributed to a project commissioned by the Municipal Party Committee Publicity Department on Shenzhen’s international communication, under academic supervision. Principal author for sections on communication actors, channels, and effectiveness evaluation. Responsibilities included categorising Shenzhen’s international communication actors, compiling a directory of major international social media accounts, analysing engagement data (likes, shares, comments) from 2013 to 2023 across multiple dimensions such as username, follower count, post volume, viewership, platform affiliation, and source attribution, conducting user comment word frequency analysis, performing sentiment co-occurrence analysis, and analysing both communication content and user comment content. -
Narrative Framework of Chinese Discourse
September2023 – October 2023 Supported the summarisation of key characteristics of Chinese discourse, including narrative structures, storytelling approaches, and cross-platform presentation, under tutor guidance. Served as lead author on the expressive characteristics of Chinese discourse, with a focus on reviewing existing research literature. The approach addressed methods of disseminating Chinese civilisation and representative narratives, thematic motifs, and their relation to cultural industries, and the adaptation of Chinese stories in global communication. -
Annual Review of Global Communication Studies Research 2023
November 2023–January 2024 Participated in the National Social Science Fund Major Project: ‘Research on Digital Journalism Theory, Methodology and Practice’. Contributed to screening and drafting papers for the annual review project in journalism and communication studies under academic supervision. Served as principal author for ten thematic sections, including Social Media and Political Campaigns, Political Influencers on Social Media, Social Media and Digital Activism, Media Trust During the Pandemic, Innovative Applications of Intelligent Technologies, Technology Policy and the Digital Divide, Digitalisation and Women’s Development, Digital Communities and Their Governance, The Spread and Countering of Misinformation, and Platform Values and Governance.
